      <image:title>About Body Psychotherapy with Lucy</image:title>
<image:caption>About Lucy Slater Somatic psychotherapist in Murwillumbah I’m Lucy Slater, the person behind Seed Psychotherapy—Body Psychotherapy with Lucy. I work with women, men and couples in Murwillumbah and online across Australia. People often come to me because they can see the pattern, but they can’t seem to change it. They understand why they get anxious, shut down, pull away or find themselves in the same argument. Yet when the moment comes, something takes over. That gap between what we understand and what we actually feel and do is where my work begins. Why I work with the body We can talk about something calmly while our chest tightens, our breath gets shallow or our hands clench. Sometimes we smile while describing something that hurt us deeply. Sometimes we have plenty of words, but little connection to what we feel. Somatic psychotherapy makes room for those experiences. Alongside talking, we may explore body awareness, breath, grounding, movement and emotional expression. We pay attention to what happens as you speak, connect, protect yourself or approach something difficult. My approach is grounded in Core Energetics, a form of body psychotherapy that explores the relationship between our emotions, physical experience and the patterns we bring into life and relationships. There is room here for tenderness, but also anger, desire, jealousy, resentment and the parts of ourselves we would rather keep hidden. You don’t have to make your experience sound reasonable before we can work with it. My experience is personal, too I came to this work through my own experience of therapy and change. I know what it is like to feel anxious in love, to struggle with relationship patterns and to wonder how much belongs to you and how much belongs to the other person. In my own long-term relationship, I have had to face the ways I protected myself that also made closeness difficult. That experience informs my work. It has taught me that understanding yourself matters—and that living differently takes practice, honesty and support. Your experience will be your own. My role is to help you explore it with curiosity and to support you in finding choices that feel more connected to who you are. Training and approach I hold a Diploma of Somatic Psychotherapy and have additional training in TRE® (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises). My experience includes three years as an intern at the Institute of Body Psychotherapy, alongside my private practice work with individuals and couples. I continue to deepen my work through professional supervision and ongoing learning. Sessions are collaborative and paced with you. Some are mainly conversational; others involve more attention to sensation, breath or movement. We discuss what we are doing and why, and you can ask questions, slow down or decline an exercise at any time. Working with individuals and couples You might come on your own to explore anxiety, shame, grief, attachment, boundaries or a recurring pattern you are tired of living with. You might want to feel more at home in yourself, more able to speak honestly or more connected to pleasure and life. Couples often come because they feel caught between wanting closeness and protecting themselves. Together, we explore what happens between you: the arguments, the distance, the things left unsaid, and what each of you needs but struggles to express. You don’t need to arrive with a clear explanation. We can begin with what you notice. Book a session I offer somatic psychotherapy in person in Murwillumbah, NSW, and online Australia-wide. You’re welcome to book a session directly. If you have questions about working together, email me at seedpsychotherapy@gmail.com.</image:caption>
