What is the difference between body psychotherapy and talk therapy?
Body psychotherapy uses a combination of talk therapy and body techniques to help you access feelings held in the body. We often refer to body psychotherapy as a bottom up approach (body to mind connection) and talk therapy as a top down approach (mind down to body) but often it has been found the mind doesnt always trickle down to the body. Body psychotherapy is more holistic.

What will happen in a session?
Typically we begin with talking so that you can feel settled n the space and have a chance to update me on what has happened between sessions. Then we will move into some gentle body work which may include breath work, physical postures and activating exercises for cathartic release. It is all tailored to the individual client and varies from session to session depending on what is happening in the persons body.

How long do I need therapy for?
This is all dependent on your individual needs, I generally suggest you try at least 6 sessions in a consistent manner to understand if it’s right for you. Therapy is usually long term, the patterns you formed in child hood happened over many years and deep long lasting healing takes time and consistency. That being said most people start to feel a whole lot better fairly quickly.
